Bangalore Jan. 25. IMTEX 2007, the largest exhibition of machine tools and manufacturing solutions in South and South-East Asia concluded here on Wednesday, generating confirmed business worth Rs 600 crore and enquiries for Rs 5,000 crore.

The seven-day event showcased progress made by the machine tool industry and saw a display of equipment with the latest technologies from 25 countries.

Organised by the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA), IMTEX 2007 and its concurrent fair, Tooltech 2007, marked many beginnings which included scheduling the event for the first time in South India (Bangalore) and at the Association's own exhibition facility (Bangalore International Exhibition Centre - BIEC) on Tumkur Road. BIEC will be the permanent venue for IMTEX, to be held every two years.

A B2C event, featuring recent global trends in machine tools and manufacturing solutions, IMTEX 2007 and Tooltech 2007 showcased emerging new technologies such as dry machining, high speed machining, versatile and multi-functional machines, compact machines, machines with smaller footprints, as well as a complete array of manufacturing solutions — in tune with the rising needs of the Indian manufacturing industry.

Mr C.P. Rangachar, President, IMTMA, said, ``IMTEX 2007 has been a path-breaker in showcasing the design and innovative skills of the Indian machine tool industry along with the international players. The exhibition has clearly displayed technologies and human capabilities in enabling excellence in Indian manufacturing.''

IMTEX 2007 is amongst the five largest international shows, globally.
